Jesus the servant
The ministry of Jesus is characterised by acts of service to others, particularly those who were suffering, vulnerable, and marginalised.
At Iona, we strive to follow the example of Jesus by serving others. In doing so, we ourselves are blessed by the friendships we form with those in our community. If you would like to join us, here are some of the ways you can get involved.
Waitakere Hospital
Every year we donate hundreds of knitted items for babies and adults to Waitakere Hospital, where they are freely distributed to all who need them. We also pack and donate small toiletry kits which are given to patients who were unable to bring those items from home.
Foodbank
Every week we deliver a load of donations to our local Foodbank, which serves people in our community needing a little extra support.
Community Dinner
On the second Saturday of the month, we gather in the church hall to share good food and fellowship with members of our community. Everyone is welcome!
